New cards!

I've just launched some new cards which are now up for grabs in the shop! A couple of Birthday specific ones for a change and some of the new blossom collage ones to try out! I've also popped in a new portrait one - one of my favourites of the year so far.

I've had a good clear out in the shop, post flash sale - Thank you SO MUCH for your orders this weekend! And I'm excited to say I've got loads of beautiful new treats to share with you soon! I can't wait, happy Monday!

Greek pots!

I've recently found myself stuck in another one of those creative ruts, they're horribly unpredictable and you just feel like you're endlessly drawing the same thing terribly over and over again. So I reached out on instagram for suggestions of new things to draw - thank you so much for such an amazing response and mixture of ideas! You've inspired me to keep a small list in reach so if ever the creative rut monster comes calling I have something to distract me from it, perfect!

One of the suggestions over the weekend was to draw "Pottery" and instantly those beautiful ancient greek pots sprang to mind. I want to do a whole series of them! Whether or not I will is another matter entirely, but it's good to find something new to draw. Anyway, I couldn't resist turning this one into a print and she's now up for grabs in the shop. The colours are beautiful and she seems so calm. It's making me impatient for summer. I have to admit it's probably one of the first prints I've made in ages which I'd quite happily have on the wall at home - is that weird? Do you guys have a lot of your work up at home? I have a lot of paintings up but I'm not fond of seeing them. I'm planning on taking a lot of them down when I get back into decorating bits of the house this summer. We shall see...

experiments printed

These 3 portraits came about while I was playing around digitally with limited colour palettes. I wanted to do something more painterly and a little rougher around the edges. Something a bit more serious looking. I picked some of my favourite colours to frame them - their details pop out at you. What started as a completely random drawing has inspired me to develop the style and take it further. Perhaps I'll crack out the inks and watercolours and have a go at painting one of these faces in the flesh, so to speak. I'll keep you posted, I'm sure there will be many clumsy splodgy outtakes over on instagram, ha!

I'm so pleased with how they look printed. The colours are stunning. I've just popped them in the shop in case you're interested. They're available as A3 ad A4 prints and come signed on the back. Here's a link!

New print!

This new print's now in the shop!

I'm going through some of last years digital portraits and this one jumped out at me. I love the colours and her pose - she also featured as my Queen of Clubs when I started my deck of cards project in the autumn... I wonder if that will ever get finished?? If you missed out I've popped the handful of designs I have so far at the bottom of the post... Just looking at them again is inspiring me to keep going... ha! Wish me luck.

New work

These 2 new faces are some of my favourite portraits to date I think. I love the simplicity (even though I have an inner urge just to smother them in patterns and clashing colours... I'm going to resist for now). I've decided to print them up nice and big and they're now in the shop if you'd like to snap up a copy. They'll only be available for a limited time though. If you're interested in purchasing the originals I'm selling them each for £120 + postage. Feel free to drop me a message! They're much brighter in person too! Lovely colours to work with... new work

I've made a few new portraits this week and decided to pop them in the shop! Here's a link!  I've made some scans of them too and next week I'll have a go at playing around with scale and possible prints. I've also been playing around with some brush pens and now I'm inundated with pretty little faces. I have a few to give away so I'll add them as a little thank you gift to the next handful of orders made through the online shop.

I'm off to have a quiet Saturday evening out of the rain. Have a lovely weekend folks!

These little line drawings will be dished out among the next handful of orders from the online shop!

New cards

The sun is shining and here are some new treats for the shop! Remember a while back I tackled my creative rut by doing some random doodling? I picked a couple of my favourite designs and turned them into cards! I'm so pleased with how they've come out, and now they're in the shop! Each design's available individually and now I've just added the plant designs as a set in case you fancied treating yourself to the collection! Here's a link!

COMIC time

Hello lovely humans!

'Want to know a fun* fact about me? (*Debatable) I'm a diary keeper. It's nothing fancy and most definitely not a number one best seller but I started writing a few things down last October and I've managed to keep it up to this day - which is less than a year so it's not saying much! But it speaks volumes to me, ha! It started out as one of those 'line a day' journals and now it's turning into a 'line and a bit a day' journal. I try to pick out little moments in the day that either made me laugh, cry, think, pause or simply pat myself on the back. Some of the entries can literally be as dull as 'I hung up the washing', but sometimes that's exactly the kind of action that needs to be recognised because not every day can fill you with that sense of accomplishment. And also I figured in years to come (possibly) it might be actually quite interesting to look back and read about all those little moments...

ANYWAY! I thought it'd be fun to try and put a few of these little memories into pictures - I've always wanted to have a go at scribbling down some little autobiographical comics and thought what better place to begin. Who knows it might be a new little side project that takes off, no pressure, but for now it's refreshing to try something completely new.

new studio, new portraits!

Well! It's been a busy month but I'm finally back on track and ready to update this blog machine with some of the projects I've been working on lately. First up... 2 new paintings now in the shop!

They're a lot simpler in style than my previous doodles (although some of the leafy patterns are creeping in, of course.) and based on faces I've been drawing in sketchbooks lately. I'm playing around with reduced colour pallets and making the portraits and face shapes a little more abstract.

Because of the current political climate it's impossible not to be inspired by the voices (and actions) of women teaming up to react to everything thats happened so far this year. I'm usually quite quiet when it comes to saying my bit, especially on places like this, but right now drawing these strong faces and watching the collection grow is how I'm processing what's going on. It's a pleasing parallel seeing the number of drawings grow as more and more people step forward to oppose the craziness going on in the world.
