Greek pots!

I've recently found myself stuck in another one of those creative ruts, they're horribly unpredictable and you just feel like you're endlessly drawing the same thing terribly over and over again. So I reached out on instagram for suggestions of new things to draw - thank you so much for such an amazing response and mixture of ideas! You've inspired me to keep a small list in reach so if ever the creative rut monster comes calling I have something to distract me from it, perfect!

One of the suggestions over the weekend was to draw "Pottery" and instantly those beautiful ancient greek pots sprang to mind. I want to do a whole series of them! Whether or not I will is another matter entirely, but it's good to find something new to draw. Anyway, I couldn't resist turning this one into a print and she's now up for grabs in the shop. The colours are beautiful and she seems so calm. It's making me impatient for summer. I have to admit it's probably one of the first prints I've made in ages which I'd quite happily have on the wall at home - is that weird? Do you guys have a lot of your work up at home? I have a lot of paintings up but I'm not fond of seeing them. I'm planning on taking a lot of them down when I get back into decorating bits of the house this summer. We shall see...

New print!

This new print's now in the shop!

I'm going through some of last years digital portraits and this one jumped out at me. I love the colours and her pose - she also featured as my Queen of Clubs when I started my deck of cards project in the autumn... I wonder if that will ever get finished?? If you missed out I've popped the handful of designs I have so far at the bottom of the post... Just looking at them again is inspiring me to keep going... ha! Wish me luck.

happy new year!

Happy new year, happy new projects, happy new cheese belly, happy new dancing feet, happy new nap times, happy new studio days. This years already rushing along like an out of control train but I've decided what the hey, go with it. Here's a doodle from the weekend. Want to know a fun (that's debatable) fact about this picture? I accidentally turned her hair pink by mucking about with layer hues and saturations AND I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE until it was on instagram... ha! A very happy accident. Another fun fact = I love her knees!

Anyway, hope you're all well rested and had a wonderful kick start to the new year and I cannot wait to see all the exciting things we get up to! Cheers! *clink*

(for those who like to know the deets - this doodle was done on my ipad using procreate)

holiday complete.

Hey team! I am BACK in the doodle-seat and ready to go! LETS GET MAKING!

First up here's a bunch of illustrations I've been doodling recently, some over my holiday. There's no theme as such, they're just a few of my favourites I've done lately. If you follow me on instagram they're probably quite familiar already but I realised the other day I hadn't popped them up on my blog so here they are...

Now it's time to play catch up!

Bacall.

A new print and tribute to the amazing star that was Lauren Bacall, is now available in the shop. Available in 2 sizes - A4 and A3 - she comes signed on the back (by me not Lauren... sorry) and ready to add that perfect level of classy sass to any room in your home.

Here's a link to the shop!

***Also just a quick note to let you guys know I'm off on holiday at the end of the month so any orders placed after the 28th of September will be processed and shipped when I'm back in the studio on the 14th of October***

pom pom mag

Hurrah! If you pick up a copy of the new issue of Pom Pom Magazine you'll find one of my doodles accompanying a great article by Anna Maltz about slooooow fashion. I was thrilled to be given an opportunity to scribble up something special for them and so pleased with how it's come out. Taaadaaa! Go treat yourself to a copy!

Patterns patterns patterns, round 2!

The patterns continue! Here are a few of my favourite so far and now I look at them, they've all been drawn on my ipad! Funny how we go through phases of creating things. Anyway I honestly don't think I can pick a favourite yet, but I'm loving the faces and some of the more splodgy ones. I'm nearly up to 40/100 (phew!). 100 day projects ARE HARD but totally worth it I have to admit...

ABC

I'm surrounded by incredibly talented people and earlier this year my studio buddy, Cam, churned out a beautiful illustrated alphabet #36daysoftype - go take a peek over on her instagram (@camille_fleur)

Here's my go at an alphabet. I haven't yet braved doing a different style for each letter BUT maybe I'll give it a go (some day)!  I've never found drawing text an easy process, the style tends to drift and the "font" at the end doesn't look very consistent. I'm not sure I have enough patience left to finish the task by the time I hit 'H'. Anyway I had a go... The shape of these letters are pretty much my default whenever I attempt lettering but to spruce things up I thought I'd add a few decorative touches and some shadows. What do you think?

Definitely work in progress!

COMIC time

Hello lovely humans!

'Want to know a fun* fact about me? (*Debatable) I'm a diary keeper. It's nothing fancy and most definitely not a number one best seller but I started writing a few things down last October and I've managed to keep it up to this day - which is less than a year so it's not saying much! But it speaks volumes to me, ha! It started out as one of those 'line a day' journals and now it's turning into a 'line and a bit a day' journal. I try to pick out little moments in the day that either made me laugh, cry, think, pause or simply pat myself on the back. Some of the entries can literally be as dull as 'I hung up the washing', but sometimes that's exactly the kind of action that needs to be recognised because not every day can fill you with that sense of accomplishment. And also I figured in years to come (possibly) it might be actually quite interesting to look back and read about all those little moments...

ANYWAY! I thought it'd be fun to try and put a few of these little memories into pictures - I've always wanted to have a go at scribbling down some little autobiographical comics and thought what better place to begin. Who knows it might be a new little side project that takes off, no pressure, but for now it's refreshing to try something completely new.

a book for paper lovers!

Hurrah! This amazing bundle of wonderfulness landed with a thud on the doorstep the other day. So excited to share some of the designs I did for the new Book For Paper Lovers by Flow Magazine. There's even a picture of my face, gulp. The book's beautifully put together and absolutely stuffed full of paper projects, inspiration and treats. There's some wrapping paper and gift tags featuring my designs but I won't say what else or I'll spoil the surprise. Here's a peek though! You can pick up a copy here!
