Tracey Meek!

Last week I received this beauty in the post made by the talented Tracey Meek! Isn’t she cool? I’m completely smitten with Miss Meek’s work – her Russian dolls are amazing and definitely on my wish list.

wool

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I’m starting to feel a little bit guilty about how much wool I own – it’s actually taking over my wardrobe…

I’m one of those folk who randomly buy a ball or 2 if I’m completely smitten with the colour/weight/texture of it. I won’t even have a project in mind but I’ll have faith that an idea or a pattern will come along and I’ll have just the right wool for it – this never happens. I’m also an ‘unfinisher’ – I have tons of half hearted knitting projects on the go, about 65% of them will never get finished but I’ll make sure the wool is stored safe and sound until it’s needed for something new. I also can’t stand throwing leftover bits away, so there is now a nice mixture of memories and fresh yarn to play with.

I’ve pulled out all of the random bundles and there are a lot of blues in my collection. I think I’m going to start knitting patches to use in a blanket (because I obviously don’t have enough of those). That seems like the perfect way to use them all up and have them on show, rather than tucked away. PLUS it’ll make room for more wool in the wardrobe ;)

Paint station – a desk on a desk – OTT?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I bought this desk YEARS ago from a charity shop for the grand total of £3!! It’s been living in a friends basement and ever since, mainly because I could never find an easy way of getting it home via public transport and I kept forgetting about it. But as you can see I finally brought it home!! It has little legs you can screw on the bottom but for now they’re tucked away inside and I have just the top resting on my work table. It makes the table the perfect height for painting projects so I’ve nicknamed it my ‘paint station’ for now. In the past I’ve been using big books to lean on (as you can see in this older post) as an attempt to limit the back damage I keep accidentally inflicting on myself. Fingers crossed this beauty does the trick!

Below: The spring flowers are filtering their way into a lot of my doodles at the moment (but I think that was a bit obvious in the recent sketch book updates). Anyway, here are some of the beautiful flowers I’ve been enjoying and some examples of how I’ve been putting them in my pictures.

And here is a random illya picture:
