What I wore yesterday (today)

Monday, September 19th, 2011

I’ve not done one of these doodles in a while and had a sudden urge to document yesterdays outfit. I filled my new bag with activities to keep me going at work – DS and little bit of knitting (The bag was an etsy find from Fox and Thomas – I can’t underline how much I love that shop). The dress was from Tesco (yeah, surprised me too). The jeans need re-dying because they definitely aren’t “black” any more. And the jumper had quite a lot of cat hair on it but funnily enough I didn’t draw those on ;)

I’ve just prepared a bucket of roast veg as my contribution to tonight’s “broadway gal’s wine and dine time”. I am armed with food and drink and very much looking forward to eating and drinking it.

before and after

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

My drawings start off really scruffy and by the time I’m armed with a pen they look awful! I’ve mentioned in previous posts about how I try to be a perfectionist when it comes to doodling in sketchbooks and I find it really tricky to let my hair down, so to speak, and just draw. But it’s a really nice feeling when a picture you almost give up on  turns into something your’re really pleased with. I think what I’m trying to say is: Scruffy is good.

And now there is a new print in the shop :)

group show!!!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

It’s official and it’s right around the corner!!!

I’ve been plotting and planning this little adventure for months and months and it’s only recently sunk in that it’s happening in less than 2 weeks!!! (slight panic)

I present to you, via The Malt Cross Gallery (Nottingham), a group show featuring art work and loveliness by Gemma Correll, Lizzy Stewart, Helen Entwisle, Jen Collins, Gemma Latimer and myself.

The opening evening starts from 4pm and there will be a lovely little table of artist books and zines available for you to purchase. Everyone’s welcome! Come along and say hello! Also, spread the word!!

PSHere’s a link to a little article I got in the local Left Lion paper. Says a little bit about what to expect from my corner of the show.

bird doodles

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

We had an amazing adventure to White Post Farm over the weekend and I was inspired by all the colourful birds. Here are some doodles I did after the adventure – at the time I was busy being slobbered on by llamas :)  (I love llamas) Ace times!

Sketchbook explosion…

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

I’m trying to keep up with number 6 on my list (my missions for 2011). I’ve spent 2 days doodling in a sketchbook and thought I’d pick out some of my favourites and share them with you. I’m a little bit addicted to that chevron pattern now…

hello 2011!

sketch book

Hello 2011! (You got here fast)

I hope everyone had a wonderful start to the new year. I spent the evening watching movies with the cat and by 12 was watching all of the fireworks from the window in our “studio/small room”. This meant the following day I was fully functioning and able to attempt making red lentil soup. hurrah! (Stayed in my PJs ALL day though)

I’m really looking forward to this year and I’ve been inspired to make a little list to hopefully push me in the right direction when I need it.

26 things to do while I’m 26, here goes:

1. Make a book
2. Make 5 zines
3. Create 50 paintings
4. Read 30 books
5. Knit a jumper
6. Complete 2 sketchbooks
7. Put on an exhibition
8. Have an Edinburgh adventure
9. Create 5 Posters
10. Make a new print each month for the shop
11. Get my book in page 45 (even if I have to smuggle it in)
12. Make a mix tape/CD for someone
13. Have a London adventure
14. Go to the seaside (I’ll save that for a warmer season)
15. Write down all the films I see (instead of forgetting them)
16. Complete my blanket
17. See more live music
18. Take more photos
19. Make a new friend
20. Bake a cake (that won’t damage/kill anyone)
21. Design book covers for 10 of my favourite books
