An eagerly awaited summer has arrived. I’ve cracked open the corner of the cupboard bearing dusty sandals and shorts and shamefully revealed my whiter than white toes to the world. While doing so I decided what a perfect time it was for an early summer sale! 3 for 2 on prints for this weekend only – Sale ends on Monday 31st so lets say a proper goodbye to winter and welcome the sunniest season with a bit of colour. Finally! Some house related pictures to share. Woke up this morning to a pleasant surprise – although I can imagine it’s going to make getting into town later tricky. Anyway, this is the view from the MOUNTAIN (it’s a hill really) we live on.

Below is the first half of our kitchen/dining room. We’re still in the process of filling up the shelves with our colourful picture books. Through the windows you can catch a glimpse of our snow covered garden. Illya’s enjoying skating around on the tiled floors – as you can probably imagine. I’m trying to decide whether I want to make some table mats or settle for incredibly overpriced habitat ones… Since I’m on a strict budget and my ’studio’ space isn’t accessible I’m leaning more towards homemade. Maybe that’s going to be this weeks project – now where did I bury my sewing machine…

This is a shot of the other half of the room (the bit where the food is made – not by me obviously as I don’t cook) and the door leading to the hallway. I’ll have some more photos of the rest of the house soon. I’m taking it room at a time – no point in showing you a lovely house with my chaos scattered around it :) Also the light’s better at this time in the morning in this room.

It’s Christmas come early! Not just one new print but FIVE new prints soon to be launched in the shops! 5 lovely new ladies with ribbons in their hair and colourful creatures by their sides. I drew these while I was away over the weekend and I’m really REALLY pleased with how they’ve turned out. I was inspired by a random drawing I did a while back, which was posted on flickr (here). There was something about the partially coloured image that I was really drawn to. Splodges of colour here and there mixed with the simple black and white detail straight from the original illustration – lovely!

Anyway, the prints themselves measure 8 inches by 10 inches and come with an ivory oval mount* (as shown in the image below) so it’s all ready for you to frame. The image sits comfortably in the middle and framed beautifully within the oval. I’ll let you know when they hit the shops!

*The availability of the mount may vary in the future, I’m currently researching suppliers – for now the mount will be available for a limited time only.

Some new treasures in the shops (etsy and folksy): Above we have the Urban Forest tote bag! I went and picked them up today, I was really excited and I’m so pleased with the result. I got them done with a local company called I dress myself – I thoroughly recommend them :)  They use environmentally friendly water-based inks and are printed on fairtrade cotton bags – nice and sturdy too. Limited edition of 50!

Below: Christmas is around the corner – it’s a large corner but that doesn’t make it any less real ;) Christmas cards are now available in the shops (etsy and folksy) 3 different designs. All cat themed (sorry). I do have a fox themed one but I’m just not 100% certain about it. We shall see what happens.

Illya is settling in :) Her gammy eye is nearly better. I’m pretty sure I’ll bombard you later on with pictures displaying the cuteness. On the shop front, I have a few more treats up my sleeve (I’m hoping one of them hasn’t got itself lost in the post) I’ll keep you well and truly posted!

I’ve begun the Christmas card doodles. So far all I have managed to draw are a few cats and a handful of familiar seasonal phrases. Other than doodling we had a house day, we finally got round to putting some new pictures on the walls. The collection is bound to grow with time and fingers crossed the neighbours won’t grow to hate us in the process :)
