Remember a while back I said I’d purchased some paint brushes? Remember also how I said I’d probably never use them? Well, I proved myself wrong! I’ve spent the day painting (6 and a bit hours to be exact – 2 and a half audio books), and I’m exhausted (what’s that about?). The paint supplies have been living in a box I mentally labeled “Wishful thinking”. I have a habit of collecting and investing money on plenty of art and craft supplies, hoping I’ll find a project for them – that very rarely happens.

Anyway, after dusting off the paint bottles and digging out the new brushes I managed to come up with these 4 ladies and I’m so pleased with them. I never thought I’d have the patience for the process (admittedly today could be just a one off) but there was something therapeutic about the repetitive patterns and details. I found myself fully engrossed. Similar to the Cotton Doodles, there is a kind of amateur roughness to them that I’m very fond of. I’d love to hear what you think of them. Now it’s time for me to clean up the mess I’ve made :)

A new print now up for grabs! Available in both shops. I drew this portrait late last year but never thought much of it. It wasn’t until I gave it a splash of colour that I realised how much I liked it. I love the blue stripes and her chain most of all and I’m glad it finally turned into a print! I hope you like it too :) I’m in the process of working on 2 more new prints and (fingers crossed) I hope to have them up for show over the weekend. Also – the house badges featured in one of the previous posts have now been packaged up and are available to buy in the shops. Take a peek!

Just a quick note to say hello and show you some of the Polaroid pictures I’ve been working on this last few weeks. Some are examples of me playing around with colours. Good morning! This is probably the earliest I’ve written a post for this new site (that doesn’t count the early hours). I was touched to see my Cotton Doodles featured on ‘My Love For You…’, horray! Right, back to sewing…

I got asked the other week by a fellow twitterer, Eric Orchard, to have a go at doodling one of his characters in colour. Et voila! I’m pleased to introduce my tribute to Inky the bat. I love his comics and illustrations. They are definitely on my Christmas list this year. Enjoy!

I went to Southwell Minster this weekend to take part in the Big Draw. I did plenty of doodling but I was a party pooper and brought my pictures home with me instead of adding them to the displays. I thought I’d do a non cat related post :) for a change. This is a doodle I submitted to doodle zine. Whether it will get used, we shall see. I’d forgotten about that drawing and it had become buried in my poorly organised computer. Since I stumbled across it today I thought I’d share.

I’m having a well deserved partial day off today. I’ve got work later but for this morning and afternoon I’ve mainly been sat reading. I’m also umming and ahing over beautiful things that are way out of my price bracket. If tomorrow is cat day (which I so hope it will be) then all my pennies will go into making the little critter safe and comfortable. It will be so nice having a small fluffy friend lurking around the house :) ok, this was meant to be a ‘no cat’ post… sorry!
