The mousetrap

Monday, March 12th, 2012

Here are some snaps from last weeks London shaped adventure. I got some tickets (last December) to see The Mousetrap at St Martin’s in Londonland and it was AMAZING! I’m such a huge fan of Agatha Christie and everything about that show made you feel like you’d taken a step back in time. Absolutely perfect! We stayed the night there and did some pleasant wandering about before the performance. I treated myself to a copy (at last) of Tamara Drewe for the train ride home. Lovely lovely times!

Hello folks!

I’m in the middle of doing some doodle experiments (warning – this could be a rambly post). I just finished an 8 week writing course, which I’m really going to miss. I originally went along with some vague story ideas (bits of story to be honest) hoping by being asked to write (and being surrounded by fellow writers) the words would come flowing and the stories would take shape. That of course didn’t happen. I started writing new things and now I have pockets full of new ideas and new bits of narrative all squishing together with the old bits of story – understandably none of it’s making any sense. On a plus side I did complete a piece of flash fiction (1000 words max) and I’m going to submit it to an online/small run magazine (little bit daunting seeing as the last time I sat down to write a story was probably back at school). Since the course has finished it’s my turn to set the homework – so for a personal project/mission I’ve started to illustrate my 999 word story… This is where the experiments are taking place and if I’m pleased with how they’re turning out I’ll keep you posted on my progress – if I’m not, they’ll vanish back into my pockets. So far I’ve doodled a fair few ‘deep in thought’/'fed up’ looking characters (I really hope that isn’t anything subliminal). I’m sidestepping away from the neatly coloured pictures I’m familiar with making to the land of sketchiness and scribbles. The neat freak in me isn’t coping very well with this adjustment but the detail monster is LOVING it… I’m coming to terms with the pencil covered palms.

Over and out :)

Just a quick note – My folksy shop is alive again!! I’m slowly updating the stock so if there’s anything missing it won’t be for long. Yay!

Some snaps from our new years adventure. We stayed in Ireby (Cumbria) to welcome in the new year. It was perfect being away from a noisy city even though the rain clouds settled themselves right on top of us. On the other hand new years day brought with it a beautiful blue sky :) beeeeyoutiful times…

better late than never!

Hello!

How was your Christmas and New year?? So much has happened since my last post. It’s been a busy house here in Nottingham with Christmas, birthdays, visitors, doodle sessions – all sorts! My dress section of the wardrobe grew a little thanks to the January sales, which is always a nice way to start the new year I think. I’ve set about scribbling down some “new year” themed lists – Mainly book reading lists, I’ll keep you posted!

ps – I ate waaaaaaay too many biscuits during December… oops!

insert colour here…

Been ages since I did a makeover update. The other month all of my black jeans decided to expire – as you can imagine that made me very grumpy since I’d just cleared out most of my clothes. It meant jean shopping… what I find the most intimidating of shopping adventures.

I was against buying the same cheap black trousers because I figured a couple of months down the line I’d be writing a pretty much identical post to this. I decided to use it as an opportunity to add a little bit of colour into my wardrobe and went for these coppery coloured trousers instead. I’m really chuffed with them. They’re comfortable, easy to look after and they’re different.

I’m making an effort to add a few new colours and patterns to my daily outfits, accessorizing a little differently too. I braved some stripey hand made legwarmers the other week and I’ve started bringing out the odd pair of shoes I tend to overlook in the mornings. It’s becoming fun finding new ways to wear old things. It’s cheaper too.
