solo book club

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

I’ve made myself a new mission. I want a kindle – before this can happen and to really test whether this kindle craving is true, for the time being I’ve made it my mission to read all of the unread books sat sulking on my bookshelves.

Bring on the fiction…

What I wore (am wearing) today

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

I started this cardigan last month, it was my first proper cable project and I thought it would take me FOREVER to finish. Well, I surprised myself and finished it last week! Just in time for the sunshine :) typical. I can’t complain though, that was the plan. I wanted a good chunky cardigan to act as a summer jacket – this is England after all and our summers are renowned for their fickle ways.

The make over mission’s taken a good turn these past couple of weeks. I found these stripey tops (I bought 2, just in case) in gap and they’re perfect. Not too clingy or short in the torso – lovely. The skirt I picked up in white stuff a couple of weeks back when I was feeling brave and adventurous. Today will be it’s 2nd or possibly 3rd outing. I worry a LOT about whether or not I’m buying the right size – it sounds really silly I know, does it fit? yes or no? Should be simple, but I get into the awful habit of buying clothes that are too large for me and it all goes pear shaped – literally. I want it to become an all time favourite of mine (I’ve got high hopes for it this summer) but it’s still relying on the more courageous days of the week.

The cardigan – I’m so pleased with how it came out. I cropped the sleeves (I always prefer 3/4 length sleeves), I figured that would be a little more practical for the warmer days of the year but also good for layering on the colder days.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain today! :)

post update – and 3 for 2 on cards and prints

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Hello there,

This is a bit of a glum post but it’s about the royal mail price increases that occurred at the beginning of the month. I’ll be honest, they were quite beastly, so some adjustments have had to be made on my etsy and folksy shops  – mainly to the international shipping. I never like having to make these kinds of changes but this time round it was unavoidable.

On a more happy note, all cards and prints (in both shops) are now 3 for 2 until Monday 13th May. Pick 3 prints – The cheapest will be free – So buy the first 2 and scribble down the title of the freebie in the ‘NOTE TO SELLER’ part of the transaction! :)

Have a lovely weekend!

I believe…

Adventures to the north

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Our Adventure began with a trip to Manchester to see the Magnetic Fields – the tickets were surprise birthday gift from Tom to his Ma (best gift ever, right?). After filling our ears with wonderful witty tunes the next day we set off to the north…

We walked, we ate LOTS of yummy food (I always seem to eat scones when I go up there, I don’t know why… it just happens. The cheese scone I had up there this time was my favourite) we had a lovely time. While we were in Manchester I took the plunge and came away with my first (I say ‘first’ like that because I know what I’m like with bags and there’s always going to be more) Cath Kidston. Right now, like lots of things I own, it’s full of knitting.
