polaroids

To celebrate the last few hours of the September Sale I’m announcing 4 new prints that are now up for grabs in the shop! Top left CW: ‘Polaroid- Bunting’, ‘Polaroid – Hiding Place’, ‘Polaroid – Suitcases’ and finally ‘Polaroid – Hard at work’. I’ve been slowly building up this  little series and I’m excited to show you this batch. It’s one of those fun projects you can dip in and out of and a great way to play around with different colour schemes. I’ll be releasing some limited editions along the way too so keep your eyes peeled.

Ps – The September Sale ends tomorrow October 1st, 9am GMT.

orkney adventure: 2

bed time

This weekend we visited the Orkney Isles for a mini adventure. My mum bought a house up there 2 years ago (you might remember this post about it in 2008) and has slowly but steadily been working on getting it ‘livable in’ ever since. It’s really starting to take shape. We took the car up so we had 2 days of driving, stopping off in beautiful Perth over night. We had gorgeous weather all along the way and after flying home I was greeted by the grumpy grey clouds that seem to sit comfortably in the midlands.

Below is a picture of the little house, with it’s soon to be green front door, and some of the amazing standing stones (the ring of brodgar) that can be found on the mainland. The days were bright and the skies blue with a slight chill in the air and that amazing wintery smell of chimneys and fires. I’ve come home eagerly awaiting a cold crisp winter (fingers crossed!). We spent the Sunday driving out to different parts of the mainland, walking here and there, taking in the sites and then devouring many portions of coffee and cake. In the evening we went to the town hall (pronounced ‘Toon Hall’) to enjoy a live concert. There’s so much happening up there I’m really looking forward to my next adventure. I’m glad to be home but sad to come to terms that my mum will be so far away in the near future – it does mean plenty of exciting trips up north though.

photocabine

Well I’ve had a pretty daft afternoon. I’ve not done much but I have been playing around with this website for a while. I now have plenty of silly pictures of my face. I thought I’d share this set with you – it features a little cat toy I made for my friends very very very soon to be born baby.

I couldn’t not show you the silliest. My favourite has to be the bottom right – I’m not allowed to work in a chocolate shop, I would probably look like this most of the time if I did…

marie laurencin catalogue

Some time last year I found an old Marie Laurencin exhibition catalogue from the 70′s (I think) tucked away in a charity shop. I remember scanning the covers hoping I could print, frame and hang them in my room – of course I never got round to it, but I just found the scans. I love the colours she used and I fell in love with her work when I found the book – unfortunately 75% of the book is in black and white so there are only a handful of paintings you can enjoy in full colour but it’s still a real treasure. It’s not every day you find something so inspiring.

I’m completely in love with it. I’ve also just started cardigan project number 2… wish me luck.

pillows

I spotted these beautiful cushions on etsy the other week. There are pages and pages of different designs  – these are just a handful of my favourites. I love the colours, the patterns and the texture of them. They remind me of cushions my mum used to own. Totally smitten.
